Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health offers EMT-B, Advanced EMT and Paramedic courses in Lafayette. Located at St. Elizabeth Central, Franciscan’s EMS program includes both didactic classroom education as well as clinical training for participating students. The Paramedic Science program at Ivy Tech offers both EMT and paramedic programs at Ivy Tech’s Kokomo campus, as well as other locations throughout the State of Indiana, though not currently in Lafayette. The curriculum combines lecture, demonstration, in-class skill practice sessions, and clinical rotations. Students obtain the knowledge and skills to allow them to function in the ever changing world of Emergency Medical Services. EMS Education Resources Prompt Central EMS Education Institute Prompt Central offers an EMT-Basic course for those interested in entering the field of Emergency Medical Services. Our State certified EMT-B course is designed to provide the highest level of classroom and clinical instruction to provide students with the most up to date practical skills and knowledge to become outstanding, patient-centered EMS professionals. If you are interested in earning your EMT certification with Prompt, please contact usto inquire about our course schedule. EMT-B classes are normally offered in the spring and fall, and meet twice/week. The course duration is four months, and requires 24 ER clinical hours and 24 clinical hours on an ambulance. Prompt Central offers a limited number of EMS Internship opportunities for area high school juniors and seniors. This program introduces those students to the field of EMS who may wish to consider careers in Emergency Medical Services, or other health care fields. Participating interns gain hands-on experience and learn skills in the areas of patient care and transport, equipment and vehicle maintenance, the importance of accurate communication and reporting, and working together in a team-based environment.
Prompt EMS Internship opportunities are available in Lafayette, Logansport, and Rensselaer. Interns are expected to work a minimum of five hours/week, and no more than 15 hours/week. Please see documents below for more information.
